About

I fell in love with photography the first time I picked up a camera as a child and rediscovered it when I had a child of my own. I have always enjoyed photography in my travels and see each object, setting and person for their own uniqueness. I attribute my photography style to many years of always having a camera handy, just in case I don’t miss that “shot” wherever I am. Technical classes in high school and college also helped me figure out the logistics of the f-stop and aperture settings, all pretty ancient now with the digital age. Dark room sessions with friends will always be cherished (I “heart” Harvey Milk Photo Center).

Since deciding 3 years ago to “go digital” I still shoot once in a while in print film. Polaroid and lomography cameras are still fun to use, though these mediums are done purely for my enjoyment and hobby photography. Nowadays, I entrust my Nikon D-70 to do the job you want me to do.

Photography has the unique ability to capture and celebrate moments at that instant of time, which we would otherwise view as a memory if not captured. As a photographer, I am passionate about capturing these special moments in your life. My goal is to depict “the everyday” beauty, that would otherwise slip away. My style is natural—hence, “shoot me now”. I don’t believe in the studio shoot (unless you want to be on the cover of Vogue or any other magazine). Most of us are not comfortable in a studio setting…..bright lights, fake backgrounds, “cheese” smiles. That is why I like to shoot where YOU are comfortable. The best photographs are the ones that aren’t staged. We’ll leave those for the aspiring actors. After all, most of us just want that nice family portrait that can be cherished for years to come. I strive to help you create that moment and capture it.

I thank my beautiful (almost 2 yr. old at the time of this writing) daughter for inspiring me to take my photography to the masses. With over 5,000 photos of her in just her first year of life, you can’t make me put down my camera now!
